This is a set of 2 fabulous antique & rustic towels. These towels are very similar to each other, but they vary slightly in size, condition etc. Each of these wonderful antique French towels is made from sturdy hemp linen heavy weight thread and date to circa 1850. These towels were likely once used as bath towels, since they are of a relatively large size, but now they make great dish or hand towels! These country towels have a little red “B” monogram in one corner of the top edge, so these could be the towels for the "B" in your life! They are in great condition for their age with many years left of use! There are two hand stitched mends on one of these towels—you can tell these were well cared for over the generations! The linen fabric is heavy, with a pliable, floppy and textural, almost soft feel. The tone is a natural just off-white tone. Each edge is machine stitched with a hem or is otherwise woven selvage. On towel has small loop tabs for hanging on the center top and bottom edge. Great for an authentic rustic farmhouse look! These towels have many more years of use left in them but the fabric of these pieces could also be lovely for small cutting projects, these textiles make stunning pillows, upholstery fabric, etc. (TT64)

MEASUREMENTS : These towels each measure approximately 23x45 inches and 23.75x43.5 inches.

One towel has some speckled rust stains on one side edge that did not wash fully and three hand mended holes, and they each have some beautiful hand stitched mends.
