This is a set of 2 fabulous antique & rustic towels. These towels are very similar to each other, but they vary slightly in size, condition etc. Each of these wonderful antique French towels is made from sturdy hemp linen heavy weight thread and date to the late 1700's. At least one of these was likely once a bath towel, since it is relatively large, but now they make great dish or hand towels! These country towels have a little red “B” monogram in one corner of the top edge, so these could be the towels for the "B" in your life! They are in great condition for their age with many years left of use! The linen fabric is heavy, with a pliable, floppy and textural, almost soft feel. The tone is a warm natural oatmeal off-white tone. Each edge is machine stitched with a hem and the opposite sides are woven selvage. There is a small loop tab for hanging on the center top and bottom edge of each towel. There are some hand stitched mends on these towels—you can tell they were well cared for over the generations! Great for an authentic rustic farmhouse look! These towels have many more years of use left in them but the fabric of these pieces could also be lovely for small cutting projects, these textiles make stunning pillows, upholstery fabric, etc. (TT58)

MEASUREMENTS : These towels each measure approximately 27x43 inches and 18x43 inches.

CONDITION : These towels are freshly laundered. There are many speckled rust marks on both of these towels. The larger towel has some larger pale and darker gray stains that did not wash fully, and they each have some beautiful hand stitched mends. Each has a gently worn surface texture and there may be a tiny hole or two on each. Generally beautiful timeworn and aged condition!!
