A beautiful antique French vandage cloth that I have recently dyed a lovely, dark blue tone! Beautiful, high quality linen from turn of the century Cognac, France.

A gorgeous antique French linen vandage cloth dating to circa 1900. I've recently dyed this cloth a wonderful dark blue gray tone that also has a slightly green hue! It's gorgeous, but the dye left some odd blotches of a yellow tone, so this may be best for cutting projects, unless this look is to your taste. This sheet is a hand woven linen and cotton mix with a heavy weight and smooth and floppy feel! This piece has a wonderful surface texture from the natural fibers. There is a hand stitched “BM” monogram in the center of this cloth with decorative woven bands off to either side. This cloth would have been draped on a vandage table for wine tastings in the aging cellar in the Cognac region of France. This piece took the dye unevenly in places. I love this mottled or textured look, however this cloth would not be right for someone looking for a very consistent solid toned dyed sheet. Very heavy weight, durable and beautiful. Wonderful used for the fabric for curtains, upholstery, pillows, duvet covers, etc! ( TT15 )

Measurements:  This lovely textile measures about 41.5 inches by 94.5 inches.

CONDITION : This textile is freshly laundered and ready to use. Please expect some large, uneven blotches from the dye including yellow-ish blotches, and unevenly dyed surface.  Please note that because this cloth was recently dyed, it should be washed on it's own for the first few washes. It can be machine washed and tumbled dry, over and over and over and the texture just gets even softer! I like to add fabric softener to the final rinse. A gorgeous textile!
